Congresswoman Maxine Waters Intervenes When LAPD Pulls Over a Black Man

A 15-second clip shared on Twitter shows California congresswoman Maxine Waters stopping her SUV and jumping out of her vehicle to assist a black male who was pulled over by a Los Angeles police officer. According to congresswoman Waters, she saw the man being pulled over and wanted to see what was happening and what the officer was doing. The officer allegedly said that she was “in the wrong place.” The video has gone viral with thousands watching the clip which was shared on Sunday, July 19.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters serves the 43rd district of California. She has served 15 terms in the United States House of Representatives. She represents communities including Westchester, Playa Del Rey, and Watts. She also represents Lennox, West Athens, West Carson, Harbor Gateway, and El Camino Village. Additionally, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita, and Torrance are under her representative umbrella. She was both the first woman as well as the first African American Chair of the House Financial Services Committee.
